Evaluation and Reflection:
My Trailer varied a little from the justification and synopsis, the storyline got a little different. I had the mother but there wasn’t a sister, like it said in my synopsis. The trailer was meant to have a younger sister of the main actress, but it hadn’t worked out. If I put it together it looked weird and the time was a significant problem, it impacted on my original trailer. Instead of adding the sister scene I decided to make it so Arora was growing up, with the scenes I was going to use for the sister scene. I also didn’t use Maleficent as my main actresses’ mother as it didn’t explain much about, so I had to make the three mothers like the cardholders as the original movie. I used most of my scenes list and genres, but I had at first mainly focused on horror and conspiracy so I didn’t think about the dramatic parts. But most of the shots were used from that source and some I happened to remember and put down as I had found in my blog. The scene list helped me develop my trailer easier. If I needed the three fairies’ scene, I knew I could look at the scenes list which helped me to find it in the movie and cut and paste on final cut pro. The whole process was made easier and it helped me to find the war scenes which I used to develop the action part of my trailer. I think I could have had made a selection of music videos and downloaded to the laptop altogether and figured the genres, which would have made choosing the right song easier. I had to download the music one by one and if later I found another one I just added it. The music went over each other which made the whole trailer a little messy and I feel like it could have been cleaner. With more planning and progress reports I would have been able to identify some of the mistakes such as scenes going over for too long. For this problem to be resolved I feel like we should have had a peer drafting, so save it and send it to a friend and they can make a bunch of notes for us to fix. I didn’t realise while I was making the trailer that there were mistakes, I only saw them when we were watching as a class. The use of my blog wasn’t as effective as term 1, I feel like I could have listed more information and stored all my song choices there. And should have also kept my failed projects or cuts, and the reasoning of why I hadn’t put it in the final. But the making of the trailer was a little confusing as I had made little planning most of it I just made up through when I was producing the trailer. This was however not the best option I should have planned properly and done everything step by step. Producing a lesson plan listing what needed to be done in what lesson could have been more proactive, as I spent too much time using the dissolving affects and forgot about the music and left it to the end, well most of it anyway. It required more time than I had expected, I used most of that time editing the dissolving affects and forgot about other things such as titles and music. Finding the right affect to dissolve one shot into another was time consuming and I had changed each shot effect about 4-5 times. This may also be the reason most of my choices made weren’t as good, I think I over thought it and consumed more time in editing.  Music took less time than I expected as I had to only load and drag. But to an extent I feel like I could have made a list and listened to heap of songs to make the best choice. With planning editing could have been a bit less time consuming. The most challenging aspect in editing would be the, speed and timing. Some of the shots were to long but the Information was necessary for the trailer. So there was a lot of cutting and speeding, but it was probably the most difficult when I had to have the three fairies’ scene cut, it was too long. I had to spend a whole lesson cutting unnecessary pieces and joining it back together to make sure it didn’t look like straight off cuts. A lot of cutting was needed in the last war and action scenes as I had to cut pieces from the horses and army, I used it like flashbacks and it took me some time to figure out how to properly put it together. I managed my final cut project well. I used 2 USB sticks, one had my rough edit just in case my original got deleted, at least I wouldn’t have to start again. I also saved the trailer each time I made progress and deleted the previous ones so they didn't take much space on my laptop. I used a fast sandisk USB, which made importing and exporting the trailer in to laptops much easier. I borrowed laptops frequently and emailed the librarians before hand about it. I did not miss an opportunity to borrow a laptop each weekend. This technique I am thankful for as if I hadn’t done that then I would have a messy time schedule for my trailer. I feel like if we had easier access to laptops or perhaps the software could be put in to our laptops then maybe it would have been easier. Because sometimes you would borrow a laptop and then end up studying for a test, and sometimes there were no chargers. That would probably the most difficulty I had encountered during the making of the trailer. I would like to add some of the dissolving affects that I saw on some of the trailers, they were a significant part of the trailer and it made them seem nice even though the story was still the same, it gave a different effect e.g. more horrific. I would also change some shots like the long shot about the three fairies talking to Arora, that scene was very long and probably put me that 11 seconds more into the trailer. I think the class enjoyed the song choice but I feel like maybe it didn’t end up setting properly at the end. It should have faded but it just stopped. I found Indya’s trailer very inspiring regarding her choice of music and shots she chose. Her music was on beat and wasn’t messy at all. Most people had good affects put on their trailers, like Ali made hers dull to emphasize the past. These inspired me and maybe if I had similar techniques I could have also made a better trailer. I used a lot of frame effects, in which I made the frame colour dull to emphasize the tragedies. And also used colourful, bright, vibrant colours to emphasize happiness. I used a variation of moods to illustrate a Dramatic affect.

Justification

Justification:

To put this story into my trailer, there will be a lot of editing involved. Voices and texts will need to explain the story, specially to explain the danger of another kingdom, for this I will use the kings back and concerned scenes to show his concerned figure and add text to let the audience know the kingdom is under attack by the new King of the east. The meeting of the Prince Philippe and Arora will need to be also text explained as that is where Arora after all her searching goes and to explain to the audience the text will be relevant. When Arora gets to the Kingdom she will need to be hugging her real father in the original movie. When the father is on his back to the commanders we can explain the new attack of the east kingdom and will need a voice over or text in fast pace. The two sisters at the start I will have to use Arora her old and young self. The editing I will use for the start of the trailer will be fast pace as Arora and her normal life with Maleficent and her younger sister. And when it gets to the part of the father and daughter reunite and the scene with the new king will have to be slow pace. And some flashes of the upcoming war and then it will fade to leave a suspenseful stop so the audience wants to watch the trailer. I will use sound FX for the new king being crowned and the flashes of the upcoming war to build drama. For the start a normal tune will be used to implement a normal and ordinary life and text will be used and some audio to explain the family and the one day. When the fairies reveal the truth I will use dramatic music and a lot of fast pace and depressing music. When Arora meets her brother Prince Philippe the music will need to be soothing and excited like someone has found something lost. The scene where she meets her father is to be sweet so the filter or the colors will have to be warmer.
